Lake Travis Eye and Laser Center was founded to provide the Lake Travis area with a state-of-the-art ophthalmology practice specializing in cataract surgery, complete glaucoma care, and refractive surgery, such as LASIK. MEET OUR DOCTORS
Dr. Kyle Rhodes
Ophthalmologist, Surgeon
Dr. Kyle Rhodes founded Lake Travis Eye and Laser Center in order to bring state-of-the-art general eyecare and surgery to the West Austin area. As you will see during your visit, the clinic is extremely efficient and hassle-free. Dr. Rhodes graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science with Highest Honors. His medical school training was at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. Dr. Rhodes’ internal medicine internship and ophthalmology training were completed at the prestigious California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco, California, where he served as Chief Resident. He then returned to Texas for a glaucoma fellowship at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas.

Dr. Rhodes is a leading Austin ophthalmologist and Austin eye care specialist. He was the President of the Austin Ophthalmology Society in 2011, and is currently a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the American Glaucoma Society, the Texas Ophthalmological Association, and the Texas Medical Association.
In April 2009, Dr. Rhodes joined Howerton Eye Clinic in South Austin as their lead cataract, glaucoma, and LASIK surgeon.
In October 2010, Dr. Rhodes opened Lake Travis Eye and Laser Center in Lakeway, Texas. Over the last 10 years, the clinic has grown in size tremendously and even added a research department. However, we take pride in the fact that we still provide the same individualized and quality care that has allowed for this growth.
Dr. Christina Wenn
Dr. Christina Wenn received her doctorate at Arizona College of Optometry where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with clinical honors and was inducted into the Beta Sigma Kappa optometric honor society. Upon completion of her training, she received the Award of Excellence in Contact Lens Patient Care from Johnson and Johnson Vision.
She was accepted to the University of Houston College of Optometry for a specialty contact lens residency, where she received extensive training on cornea and ocular disease, with an emphasis on specialty contact lens fittings, including myopia control. She received her bachelor’s degree in Molecular Cell Biology and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Saint Mary’s College of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana.
Dr. Wenn is a member of several optometric organizations including the American Optometric Association, Texas Optometric Association, and American Academy of Optometry. In addition, she has presented at optometric conferences including the Global Specialty Contact Lens Symposium and American Academy of Optometry.
Dr. Wenn has experience managing a wide variety of ocular conditions including primary eye care, anterior and posterior segment disease, including dry eye, glaucoma, and diabetic eye conditions. She also fits custom specialty contact lenses including scleral, gas permeable, hybrid and orthokeratology lenses. She believes in highly personalized patient care every step of the way. Her mission is to provide superior quality eye care, ensuring that patients achieve their best visual potential. She finds joy and satisfaction serving the visual needs of her community and is proficient in the newest procedures to bring state-of-the-art care to her patients.
When she is not working, Dr. Wenn enjoys traveling, cooking, fitness, and hiking.
Dr. Krystal Schulle
Dr. Schulle grew up in Lockhart, the BBQ capital of Texas, and graduated as valedictorian of her high school class. She went on to attend the University of Houston, earning both her undergraduate and Doctor of Optometry degrees with Summa Cum Laude honors.
After graduation, Dr. Schulle completed a residency in ocular disease and refractive and ocular surgery at Eye Center of Texas. She then joined the clinical faculty at the University of Houston College of Optometry (UHCO), where she spent five years training future optometrists.
She later transitioned into ophthalmology-based practices, providing specialized tertiary and perioperative eye care to patients across the greater Houston area. Following the birth of her son, Dr. Schulle returned to Central Texas to be closer to family — and is now proud to be part of Lake Travis Eye and Laser Center, where she continues to deliver exceptional care while reconnecting with her roots.
Dr. Schulle is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and an active member of both the American Optometric Association and the Texas Optometric Association. She is a past board member and former president of the Harris County Optometric Society.
Her academic achievements include numerous awards and honors, such as the Terry Foundation Scholarship, Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society, Gold Key International Optometric Honor Society, the Julius F. Neumueller Award in Optics, and the National Institutes of Health Loan Repayment Program Award.
She has published multiple research papers and abstracts focused on myopia progression and ocular disease. Dr. Schulle is passionate about service and has participated in three mission trips to Haiti — one focused on clean drinking water and two dedicated to providing essential eye care.
Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, staying active, being involved in her church, and most of all, spending time with her husband and son.
